Midway's "Poole Hall Sessions" features catchy songs, good harmonies, jangly guitars, and everything else needed to produce good rock n' roll music. The lead track, "Anne Marie," features a nice guitar hook with a sing-along chorus and a moving bassline that holds it all together and starts the album off with a high point. Upon further review, this five song EP has no throwaway numbers--each one is catchy enough to stick in your mind immediately. "Get Out of My Way" is another song you'll find insidiously catchy. The music is produced well, the guitars ring out over the rhythm section, and the lyrics are easily picked up, not too heavy but with more substance than you might expect from the genre. http://www.midwaymusic.com. --M.R.
